RAIDOS

Home & Farm Automation / Consolidation

“Synchronize technology around homestead and farms in perfect harmony”

A scalable, self-healing mesh network platform that unifies home automation and agricultural systems — from lighting and power to irrigation, security, and crop monitoring — into one coherent, offline-capable framework.

One Platform.
Total Consolidation.

Most IoT solutions address home or farm in isolation — separate devices, separate apps, separate maintenance. RAIDOS eliminates that fragmentation entirely.

Built on ESP32/ESP-Mesh technology, RAIDOS supports up to 1 000 interconnected nodes across a property. Each node operates a specialised domain — power, water, agriculture, security, air management — while sharing one backbone, one communication bus, and one user interface.

The architecture is edge-first: automation rules execute locally on each node regardless of internet availability. Cloud sync, remote dashboards, and API integrations layer on top without becoming a dependency for core operation.

Designed for Kenya's real conditions — intermittent connectivity, variable power supply, and diverse environments from urban homes to remote farms — RAIDOS is built to work where conventional smart-home products fail.

Built For

Three distinct user groups — each with different scale and priorities — are all served by the same modular architecture. Start with one node and expand at your own pace.

Homeowners

Small, medium and large Kenyan households looking to enhance comfort, reduce costs, and adopt sustainable practices. Modularity means you deploy only what you need — one room or an entire compound.

Farmers

Commercial, subsistence, and hobby farmers who face fluctuating markets, climate pressure, and resource constraints. RAIDOS offers precision tools for crop monitoring, irrigation, livestock, and storage management.

Small Industries

Jua Kali workshops and full private/public sector businesses that need affordable, scalable automation. RAIDOS provides customisable IoT infrastructure that meets modern engineering standards without enterprise costs.

System Architecture

Raidos is the central coordinator — a custom ESP32 board with dual-core Tensilica LX6 processing. Supporting nodes each own a specific domain and communicate via ESP-Mesh, WiFi, or MQTT. Scalable ARM-Cortex variants are on the roadmap.

Raidos

The network coordinator. Built on a custom proprietary board with an ESP32 dual-core Tensilica LX6 processor. Manages all supporting nodes, handles the web UI (Bootstrap + JS), OTA updates, WPA2 + HTTP auth security, persistent variable storage across power outages, WhatsApp alerts via CallMeBot API, OLED diagnostics display, and MQTT protocol support in WiFi mode. Mesh capacity: 512–1 000 nodes. ARM-Cortex variants planned for high-performance deployments.

Rayos

Energy & Power Systems

Bleeding-edge power and illumination management. Controls outlet switching and lighting with real-time power monitoring, surge and short-circuit detection at 6 ms response, persistent energy records, and scheduled automation.

Aquos

Water Management

End-to-end water management from source to destination — tanks, boreholes, sumps, and digesters. Level sensing, quality sampling, flow metering, precise remote regulation, and filtration routing based on quality and usage.

Gaios

Agricultural Systems

Battery-powered field nodes that gather soil pH, moisture, humidity, and temperature from remote farm areas. Supports automatic irrigation, BLE mesh, deep-sleep scheduling, and Grafana/InfluxDB database consolidation.

Seios

Seed & Crop Innovation

Monitors stored grain and active crops for moisture, temperature, and air quality. Centralised database flags badly stored batches to prevent aflatoxins and mould. Includes AI consultation via free APIs.

Hades

Ultimate Gatekeeper

Security and surveillance for hard-to-reach areas. Triggers ESP32-CAM captures, runs OpenCV AI image recognition on a linked computer, manages access control, and monitors behavioural anomalies in animal enclosures.

Ventros

Bulk Air Management

Controls HVAC units and large air-movement systems in greenhouses, industrial buildings, and pollinator spaces. Monitors airflow, chains/clusters multiple units, and allows fully parametric customisation.

Lumios

Lighting Control

Dedicated lighting management node. Handles scheduled switching, scene control, and integration with Rayos for unified power and illumination management across the whole property.

Aetheros

Network & Connectivity

The network backbone that bridges all nodes. Manages ESP-Mesh topology, WiFi uplink, MQTT brokering, and OTA update distribution. Supports up to 1 000 mesh nodes with self-healing routing.

How It Works

Three layers operate independently and compound each other. The mesh runs whether or not there is internet — only cloud sync and remote access require connectivity. Core automation never goes offline.

Sense
01

Sense

Distributed nodes collect soil moisture, temperature, humidity, motion, energy consumption, water flow, air quality, and more — continuously and in real time.

Process
02

Process

Each ESP32 node executes automation logic locally — no cloud round-trip needed. Data is queued for sync and routed through the self-healing ESP-Mesh topology.

Act & Report
03

Act & Report

Actuators trigger pumps, lights, relays, and valves. Alerts surface via the web dashboard, mobile app, or WhatsApp/Telegram bot. Every event is logged persistently.

Objectives & Significance

RAIDOS directly addresses the digital divide in rural and marginalised communities — delivering real-time, actionable intelligence where conventional smart systems cannot reach or afford to operate.

High-Density Connectivity

Seamless integration of up to 1 000 nodes in a single mesh network, supporting diverse home and farm applications concurrently.

Self-Healing Network

When a node fails, the mesh automatically reroutes through alternative paths — no manual intervention, no system downtime.

Edge-First Reliability

Automation runs locally on each node. Cloud and internet are additive — never a dependency. Critical systems keep operating through outages.

Interoperability

Compatible with MQTT, HTTP, and existing protocols. API integrations — including free WhatsApp (CallMeBot) and Telegram alerts — keep users informed without proprietary lock-in.

Affordable by Design

Low-cost ESP32/ATmega hardware, open-source frameworks, and modular deployment mean communities with limited resources can start small and scale affordably.

User-Friendly Interface

Bootstrap + JS web UI accessible from any browser. Remote WebSerial for advanced users. OTA firmware updates. No specialist tools required for daily operation.

See It in Action

Two live recordings — the responsive RAIDOS web dashboard running on a phone, and the Telegram bot interface that delivers full remote control without a dedicated app install.

Flexible Web UI
